by Air&Train:The nearest major airport is Minneapolis, MN（MSP）. Amtrak has a station in La Crosse, WI （LSE）. The only bus transportation to Decorah is a Rochester Express shuttle van that runs between Minneapolis Airport and Decorah.30 km to North West. From Decorah:An alternate route is to take highway 9 east from Decorah to Waukon, Iowa. Turn left （north）on highway 76. Proceed 12 miles to County Road A26 （Bear Creek Dr）.Turn left （west） and to 3.4 miles to Ryumon Rd and turn left. Come up the hill and take the first right
leading to the parking area and new monastary buildings.

Brief History

A forty acre farm was donated for the development of Ryumonji.The land was donated in February of 2000. In 2003, the first of four permanent monastery buildings was built. This main building is referred to as the Buddha Hall （Hondo）. The Buddha Hall is a 40' x 52' timber framed structure with metal roof and in-floor heating. It was dedicated on June 23, 2007. Currently a new Kuin building is being constructed. It will be completed by Fall of 2007.
